AI First

This week, I had an important discussion with our development team about a fundamental shift: transitioning to an AI-First Engineering Organization. I wish I had initiated this conversation six months ago, but I wasn’t there yet myself. It took time to research, learn from others, and understand the implications. Now, we are ready to take action.

The Market is Still Open

Our market does not yet have a clear winner. That means there is still work to do, and the opportunity is ours to seize. Speed has always been a defining factor in success. If we move faster than others, we can lead. If someone else gets there first, we risk losing our place.

To increase our speed and efficiency, we are making AI a core part of how we build, operate, and scale.

What Does AI-First Really Mean?

Before defining AI-First, it’s important to understand what Human-First (or AI-Assisted) means. In a Human-First approach, the developer writes the code and consults AI when needed—as a secondary tool for assistance.

In an AI-First approach, the developer’s role fundamentally shifts. Instead of starting by coding, the developer begins by delegating the task to AI. The seat in the cockpit changes—from being the primary driver to taking on a different role: reviewer, editor, and optimizer.

This shift requires a new mindset. Instead of viewing AI as a helper, we embrace it as the first point of execution, allowing engineers to focus on refining, improving, and ensuring quality.

Why AI-First?

It’s no secret that AI is already embedded in our workflows. We use AI-powered tools every day to assist with coding, debugging, and problem-solving. So why explicitly commit to an AI-First approach?

A quick internal survey showed that AI has improved our productivity by around 120%. This is meaningful but far from the potential we believe AI can unlock. We are not aiming for incremental improvements; we are aiming for 5x or even 10x gains.

The Commitment

This is not just a slogan. We are making a concrete commitment to investing time and money into this transformation. Our goal is to equip every engineer with the best tools, dedicated learning time, and structured training programs to turn AI into an enabler of 10x development.
